Exquisite Quality Rare and Important Antique Dresden/Meissen Hand Painted Porcelain Reticulated Body Chestnut Basket or Tureen with Superbly Formed Chestnut Shaped Finial
Circa 1851-1875
Please note the exquisite hand painted details throughout, including the reticulated body and lid, the marvelous chestnut-shaped finial with its prickly exterior and the exquisitely painted floral sprays throughout. There is evidence of an old professional restoration to one handle and to the edge of the lid and this “as found” condition is reflected in the price.
The Dresden/Meissen “crossed swords” mark, from about 1851 to the latter part of the 19th century were painted with slight “pommels” or handles as is noted in the mark on the base in underglaze blue.
